Did the Japanese Occupation change the way people viewed Singapore?

View: Singapore as an Impregnable Fortress

People In Singapore viewed Singapore as an impregnable fortress as it has a strategic location which allowed the Japanese to launch attacks on British colonies. An example would be series of big guns were installed at the coast of Singapore to protect us against any Japanese invasion by sea. As a result,many had regarded Singapore as the Gibraltar of the East.
